Can't Take My Eyes Of Off You - Lauryn Hill

The WEDDING!!!

It was perfect and so beautiful.  My mom, granddad and his wife came first and stayed at El Magnifico.  We hung out and sat in the sun when it wasn't raining.  It was so nice to just relax for a bit.  We went out to eat most nights and it was lovely.  That Friday Auntie Brenda and Uncle Roger showed up.  We were so happy that they could rest and just enjoy some time in the sun.  The next day Jen and Rebecka showed and stayed at Velero.  I love Velero!  That night Shari came in.  All of a sudden, it got very, very busy.  We were running almost every day. The next day we went to Puerto Plata and went to the fort, teleferico, and chocolate factory! The fort was so cool and it was so nice to tour around with everyone!  I loved the cable car and I applaud Jen for going up and down despite the fear of heights. The views were breathtaking for sure!! The chocolate factory was a very big hit and was a great way to end the day! I did get a chance to sit by the pool with Jen and Rebecka the morning of the rehearsal, which was so much fun.  We played around in the water like children - splashing and doing handstands! The rehearsal went so well and I am so in awe of my amazing wedding planner, Rich.  Delvi and I were getting so excited.  After the rehearsal, we picked up the rest of the guests and went to Waves for dinner!  It was such a nice time.  That night Delvi went to Los Brazos with the rest of the guys to party!  Stacy, Jen and Rebecka and I went to Ojo and danced the night away and enjoyed the people watching!  Rebecka and Jen even took motos back to Velero!! Rebecka's idea!! It was so much fun. On the morning of the wedding day, Stacy and I went to mom's early for makeup and hair, Jen showed up a little later.  Mom, Stacy, Jen and I got our hair and makeup done! It was nice to be a star for a day.  I was a bit worried about the rain, but it all cleared up in time.  The photographer showed up and I was a ridiculous camera hound!! Can I just say, it was pretty awesome to be doted on all day? When we were all dressed we had our first look pics, I almost cried when Delvi turned around and his face was just in shock.  My heart just fluttered.  He was so handsome - he's always handsome, but he looked so amazing.  It was so special - I'll always remember his face.  After some group and single pics, we boarded the bus and headed out to the venue.  You wouldn't believe that it was a farm --- the huge tree was strung with colored tulle and hanging lanterns with flowers in them.  We had clean white chairs with little vases of flowers down the aisle.  There was a tented area with a bar set up for right after the ceremony.  We had a classical guitarist play during the ceremony - it was magical.  The barn roof was strung with lights and we had beautiful tables with flowers, gold linens, and chairs.  The dance area was flagstone and covered by trees strung with lights.  It was stunning.  The actual ceremony seemed to fly by so quickly - but I do remember staring at Delvi. We were both so nervous and excited! After the ceremony, we took more pics while our guests had drinks at the bar.  Dinner was delicious and our guests were lucky to be catered to by the chef from Velero!! After dinner, Delvi and I surprised our guests with a mix of "Can't take my eyes off of you/Can't stop the feeling" for our first dance.  For the second dance, Delvi danced with his mom, I with Uncle Roger - then Uncle Roger and Melania, me with Delvi's dad and Delvi and my mom.  Then!!! Then the party got started.  We had a wide selection of music and EVERYONE danced!! It was perfect.  While doing the cake cutting (which was delicious) we had a s'more bar.  It was a huge hit.  Did I tell you Delvi and I had a personal waiter??? We did  - and I drank ALL of the prosecco! LOL To end the night, we had fresh empanadas and a bonfire on the beach.  A perfect and beautiful day.

My husband is wonderful and I am so thankful to everyone who was part of it - near and far.

Pardon the way that I stare. There's nothing else to compare. The sight of you leaves me weak. There are no words left to speak. But if you feel like I feel. Please let me know that it's real. You're just too good to be true. Can't take my eyes off of you.

We Can't Stop

Well, it's been a learning experience already.  I've been here for 20 days today. Delvi has been so helpful and supportive and his family is amazing.
Here's a couple of things:
1. Everyone lives so close and the walls are so thin that everyone knows everything. I can hear everyone's music, arguing and phone calls.  You could learn a lot, if you were fluent in the language.  However, I'm not quite yet.  I'll get there.  It's hard to keep up in conversations, but I am picking up a lot more of the topics. I am even trying to participate, so that's good. At least I feel like I'm a part of things.
2. Because everyone is so close, they can hear everything in our house too. 😲 LOL.
3. I have been pretty sick.  My stomach has been complaining a lot.  It recently was quite bad and I actually had to get treatment for enteritis (I've had it before).  I need IV fluids, vitamins and antibiotics.  Boo, but at least I'm to allergic to the food, which I was worried about.
4. The legal wedding is on a pause for a bit, until we can get the paperwork done.
5. The wedding!!!!! is in one month!  ONE MONTH!

We Can't Stop - Miley Cyrus
It's our party we can do what we want to
It's our house we can love who we want to
It's our song we can sing if we want to
It's my mouth I can say what I want
It's cheesy and I don't care!

Glorious - Macklemore

I feel glorious, glorious

Got a chance to start again

I was born for this, born for this

It's who I am, how could I forget? - Macklemore

I know that I don't really ever quite show myself fully too often, but if you ever really wanted to get a view of who I really am, you'd just need to check out my playlist. It's a palette containing a rainbow.  When I was younger I thought that each song I listened to had a special meaning for me. LOL. Seriously, I do think this is the case in reality. I think the same about books and art too.  I think that it is important to pay attention to what's going on around you.  I've decided that my blog will be like my playlist; all of the important (and not important) moments in my life have a theme song. I'm going to share my playlist with you.

Let's start with Glorious.  I love this song because it's about moving forward and appreciating all that you have and every experience you've gone through. Not all days are easy, there are some intense inclines and treacherous roads behind and ahead.  It's all good; it's all growth.

I am proud of myself, even though I don't shout it from the rooftops. I have made a couple of leaps in my life: New York, Calgary and now the Dominican Republic. I am here for love. I didn't see it coming, as people told me it would be so. My love is a wonderful, caring, passionate and amazing person. Who knew he'd be on a tropical island?

I am so happy and excited that I took this leap...let's see what happens next!!
